Fluorouracil, also know as 5-FU, is a type of chemotherapy used to treat various types of cancer including colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer. Many patients receiving chemotherapy regimens involving 5-FU may be eligible for home infusion therapy. Typical treatments run over 46 hours or continuous with the patient’s radiation therapy depending on treatment type and your doctor’s orders. These treatments run on a pump that is preset by a pharmacist, specific to each patient’s chemotherapy order.
