APPLE DISCOUNT DRUGS INTRODUCES ADVANCED BLOOD PRESSURE TECHNOLOGY TO THE LOWER SHORE
New Program Tracks Blood Pressure, Glucose Readings, Weight and BMI
Fruitland – Apple Discount Drugs, a locally owned Health Mart pharmacy, is pleased to provide a new service that is bringing advanced blood pressure technology to the Lower Shore. The PharmaSmart Blood Pressure Monitor, now available in the Fruitland location, is equipped with software that can record, track, graph and share blood pressure readings over an extended period of time.
The PharmaSmart blood pressure kiosk utilizes smart card technology to track and retain patient readings over time while providing printed reports with averages. Utilizing wireless technology, the device can upload data to an on-line tracker web application, which allows pharmacy/patient and even physician access from any computer.
“We are excited to share this cutting edge technology with anyone who walks into our store,” said Jeff Sherr, president, Apple Discount Drugs. “It allows patients to track their blood pressure readings and easily share them with their physician. Ultimately, this will help people better manage, control and lower their blood pressure.”
The online program also provides an outlet for patients to record and keep track of their glucose levels, weight and body mass index (BMI).
The size of the cuff matters!
The PharmaSmart cuff is considered a “one size fits all” and is accurate for the widest range of arm sizes. This cuff eliminates any opportunity for error for taking a proper blood pressure measurement. Many studies have shown that the most common reasons for inaccurate blood pressure readings are incorrect application and improper cuff size.
High Blood Pressure – The Silent Killer
Cardiovascular disease is the # 1 killer in America. The most common contributor is high blood pressure known as the “silent killer” which affects 1 in 3 Americans. One of the most dangerous aspects of hypertension is that you may not know that you have it. Nearly one-third of people who have hypertension don’t know it because there are generally no symptoms of high blood pressure. The only way to find out you have high blood pressure is to get your blood pressure checked on a regular basis. This is especially important if you have a close relative who has high blood pressure.
