Until now, practitioners who wanted to customize medicinal therapy for a particular patient found little or no support from manufacturers or pharmacists. You now have the opportunity to initiate customized therapy. We also have the ability to flavor all oral medication with over 30 flavors with our new Flavor Rx® system.
Just What the Doctor Ordered
Pharmacies have lost sight of some of its founding principles, notably the art of extemporaneous compounding. Apple Discount Drugs is taking a giant step backwards to provide the basic option to have medicinals compounded to meet special needs. Using commercially available products, high-tech molds, bulk chemicals, and new drug delivery systems, we can create a huge number of alternative dosage forms.
Each compounded prescription is created to your specifications to meet your unique needs. With today's technology, yesterday's art, and currently available dosage delivery systems, the list is almost endless.
Back to the Future
It has been said that before we can look to the future we must look to the past. Although many disease states can be treated with standard forms of available drugs, today's practitioners are increasingly more frustrated by the lack of commercially available products or dosage forms. Using time honored techniques, coupled with today's knowledge of therapeutic chemistry, the pharmacists at Apple Discount Drugs are indeed carrying the past into the future.
Compounding / IV Mixing Rooms
Our compounding room is separate from the main pharmacy to facilitate a suitable work area for pharmacists preparing your special medications. The compounding room is stocked with all the necessary materials and bulk drug items to compound virtually anything your physician has prescribed.
The IV mixing room was designed to be fully self contained having its own air filtration system and heat/air conditioning systems. This room has been certified as a CLASS 100 room meaning that for every cubic foot of air there are no more than 100 particles 0.5 microns or larger in that air (surgical or operating suites are CLASS 100). IV mixing is then done under a laminar flow hood or biohazard hood. Each hood has its own filtration system so they are filtering air that has already been filtered once by the room itself. That's double protection to ensure the highest quality of IV medication possible. Apple Discount Drugs has made a substantial commitment to the safety of you, our client.

Home Infusion
Apple Infusion is a licensed pharmacy providing home intravenous (IV) therapy and enteral therapy. Our goal it to provide services and care that meet the client's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. We strive to accomplish our mission through honesty, communication, and involvement in cost effective home care. Our service area includes most of the Delmarva Peninsula.
Apple Infusion's pharmacy is equipped with laminar flow hoods and a "clean room" (certified Class 100) for compounding IV solutions and chemotherapeutic agents. A Class 100 room is the same as an operating room in the hospital. Pharmacists wear gowns, gloves, and mask while compounding your prescriptions just as a surgeon wears in the operating room. The hoods are inspected by an independent agency every six months to meet certification and licensure standards.
Prescriptions for clients are compounded according to the physician's order and delivered to the individual's home together with all ancillary supplies necessary for the prescribed course of therapy. Continuation of therapy and replenishment of supplies is tracked via computer to expedite timely delivery and alleviate client concern.
Apple Infusion works closely with the physician, social worker, discharge planner, nursing agency, and third party insurers to provide a team that ensures continuity of care in the comfort and familiar surrounding of the client's home.
