About the Company
Since 1972, Apple Discount Drugs has been servicing the residents on Delmarva's Eastern Shore! Our companies are locally owned and operated with our customers also being our neighbors. The "Apple Group" supports our communities through local business and with donations of money and services to local charities. Our conference room is available at no charge to any civic or business group requesting it (capacity approximately 15 to 20 people). Just call to reserve the room in advance.
Our goal has been to supply medical equipment, home oxygen and respiratory equipment, prescription medications, and home infusion combined with outstanding service provided by certified and/or licensed professionals. Instruction and consultation are just as important as the products you receive from us.
Apple Discount Drugs and Apple Infusion are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Healthcare, Inc. (ACHC). This accreditation is the same accreditation hospitals must achieve however it is voluntary on our part thus demonstrating our commitment to excellence.

Apple Discount Drugs Completes Accreditation with ACHC - February 2008
Salisbury, MD – Apple Discount Drugs proudly announces its award of accreditation status by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc. (ACHC) for the services of pharmacy, medical equipment, medical oxygen and infusion services.
ACHC, a private, not-for-profit corporation which is certified to ISO 9001:2000 standards, was developed by home care and community-based providers to help companies improve business operations and quality of patient care. Referring to the value of accreditation, ACHC President Tom Cesar indicated, “The survey process leads an organization to examine its policies and practices continually to clarify its strengths and improve its weaknesses.”
Accreditation is a voluntary activity where healthcare organizations submit to peer review of their internal policies, processes and patient care delivery against national standards. By attaining accreditation, Apple Discount Drugs has demonstrated its commitment to maintain a higher level of competency and strive for excellence it its products, services and customer satisfaction.

Apple Discount Drugs Opens New Store at Harbor Pointe Plaza on Pemberton Drive! - February 13, 2006
Apple Discount Drugs opened another location today. This one is located in Harbor Pointe Plaza on Pemberton Drive and will serve the communities of Pemberton, Nanticoke Road, Hebron, Quantico, Nanticoke, and Mardela. This quaint shopping center is located at Harbor Pointe is halfway between McDonalds and Nithsdale. The pharmacy has a prescription pick up and drop off "drive in" window for added convenience. A computer link between the Fruitland store and Berlin store will enable customers to have their prescriptions filled at any of the three locations. Community Service Award From ACTION - February 15, 2005
ACTION (Alliance for Conquering Tobacco In Our Neighborhoods) recognized Apple Discount Drugs for outstanding community health practices by not selling cigarettes and other tobacco products in their stores. Apple Discount Drugs provides prescriptions, medical equipment, oxygen, and respiratory therapy equipment to patients at home. "We would be sending the wrong message if we sold tobacco on one side of the store and oxygen on the other" said Keith Ayers, co-owner of Apple. "Our focus is healthcare and has been for over 32 years." Ayers is a respiratory therapist and his business partner, Jeff Sherr, is a pharmacist. Apple Discount Drugs employs over 100 and includes various healthcare professionals such as respiratory therapists, nurses, certified surgical fitters, pharmacists, and pharmacy techs.

Apple Discount Drugs Opens New Store
in Berlin, Maryland - February 11, 2003
Apple Discount Drugs opened a new store at the corner of Rt. 113 and Franklin Avenue in Berlin, Maryland. The new store occupies 6,000 square feet. Their existing location, Apple Medical on Healthway Drive in Berlin, was re-located to this location and continues to provide oxygen and home medical equipment. The pharmacy department has a prescription pick up and drop off window for added convenience. A computer link between the Salisbury and Berlin stores will enable customers to have their prescriptions filled at either location. Relay For Life Silver Sponsor Award Presented
to Apple Discount Drugs - November 8, 2001
Mike Dunn, co-chair of the Relay For Life, presented the Silver Sponsor award to Jeff Sherr and Keith Ayers, co-owners of Apple Discount Drugs, in appreciation for their contribution of $1,000 to the 8th annual Wicomico Relay For Life. This marks the 7th year that Apple Discount Drugs has been a sponsor of the Relay For Life benefiting the American Cancer Society. The event was held at Bennett Middle School on September 21st and 22nd. Eighty five teams participated raising more than $248,000. Apple Discount Drugs believes in supporting the community and is proud to have been a sponsor in this important event.

Apple Becomes 4th Independent to Install Baker P2000 Pharmacy Automation System - September 25, 2000
Apple Discount Drugs became the 4th independent pharmacy to install the Baker P2000 prescription filling software and machines. Working with McKesson (the makers of the Baker P200) and the software programmers at Health Business Systems (Apple's host pharmacy computer system), Apple Discount Drugs was able to "marry" the two technologies that enable them to fill prescriptions more accurately and to reduce customer wait time. The patient's prescription is entered into the HBS computer where it is billed to the insurance company online. It is then "handed off" to the Baker P2000 where the actual physician's prescription is imaged into the computer. A barcoded label is printed and scanned thus triggering the Baker P2000 to count and dispense the correct medication. A pharmacy technician places the tablets or capsules into a medication bottle, verifies the tablet/capsule with a digital image of the medication on the computer screen along with the NDC number, and then places a label on it. The customer's prescription bottle is now given to the pharmacist for the final check at which time the actual written physician's prescription appears on his computer screen for verification.
